Ashcroft Therapy Centre, Hudson Street, Deddington, Banbury, Oxon, OX15 0SW -
Thank you for taking the time to view my site. I am a counsellor and psychotherapist working with adult clients in Oxfordshire, based in Ashcroft Therapy Centre, Deddington Nr Banbury.
Many people consider counselling when they (or someone close to them) find themselves struggling with their thoughts and feelings. Seeking help through counselling can be a positive step towards making sense of difficulties, bringing relief and change. Beginning counselling can sometimes feel like a big step. I am very happy to think with you about how or why to begin counselling via telephone or email consultation. I offer both short and long term work, and practice from discreet therapy rooms.
About Me & My Practice
I have over 15 years experience working within mental health, specifically in education settings and in recent years I have established my private practice. My qualifications include:
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their codes of ethics, practice and continued professional development. Further information can be obtained from www.bacp.co.uk.
I work with adult clients of all ages and backgrounds. Part of my work in private practice specialises in counselling parents who are concerned about their relationship with their child or children.
I usually meet with clients for sessions that are 50 minutes long. During our first session, we will think together about what is troubling you, and in doing so, allow you to experience something of the type of work we may do. It will also offer me a sense of what support may be right for you and whether I am the best person to work alongside you with this. When this is agreed, we will arrange the times and dates of our future sessions, as well as the number of sessions.
About ‘Psychodynamic' counselling
There are many counselling modalities, and knowing which to choose can be a challenge.
The type of counselling I offer is called 'Psychodynamic' counselling. Put simply, this means we think about your current situation, your past experiences and the counselling relationship to understand more about the root cause of unhappiness or distress. We also uncover feelings that have thus far been hidden to us, offering us a new or different perspective. This insight can enable change and leave behind old patterns of behaving that are no longer helpful to us.
It may be helpful to know that studies have shown that 'a good fit' between counsellor and client has the greatest impact, regardless of modality. Psychodynamic counselling has this relationship at the centre of the work.
My current fee is £50 per session, although I do have a small number of sessions available for those whose circumstances make it difficult to manage the full fee.
